About Humanity 8.0: The Last Administrator

Humanity 8.0: The Last Administrator is the debut novel from Bebe Parton, an autistic writer whose background in litigation support and eDiscovery helped shape her interest in evidence, contradictions, human behaviour and the consequences of difficult decisions.

The novel is an adult speculative science-fiction thriller about an ordinary woman who discovers that humanity is approaching a reset and is offered temporary control over what comes next. She can save thirty people and bring back the mother she has lost, but every attempt to protect the people she loves requires her to interfere more deeply in their lives.

The story was originally inspired by a dream, but became much more personal after Bebe lost her own mother. Beneath the science-fiction premise is a story about grief, family, love, autonomy and the uncomfortable question of how far we would go if we were given the power to keep the people we love safe.

Biography

Bebe Parton is an autistic writer who spent nearly twenty years working behind the scenes in litigation support and eDiscovery. It was a world of evidence, timelines, contradictions and people rarely being quite as straightforward as they claimed. Inevitably, some of that found its way into her fiction.

She lives with severe social anxiety and writes under a pen name, but the experiences and emotions behind her stories are real. Her debut novel, Humanity 8.0: The Last Administrator, was shaped by grief, complicated families and the loss of someone she would have done almost anything to bring back.

She writes speculative fiction about ordinary, flawed people who are given too much power and forced to make choices with no clean answer. Her stories explore grief, love, control, morality and the uncomfortable line between protecting someone and believing you know what is best for them.

When she is not writing, she is usually building something online, coming up with another business idea or watching the sort of television thriller that makes going to bed at a sensible time unlikely.
